ALI BONGO STILL PRACTICES LOW RENT ETHNIC POLITICS. ALI BONGO TOUJOURS DANS LA PRATIQUE D’UNE POLITIQUE ETHNIQUE AU RABAIS

English version

The academic definition of the term "geopolitics" in other countries, refers to the study of rivalries of power over specific territories and the inhabitants therein. But in the Bongos’ Gabon, geopolitics simply refers to the sharing of patronage between individuals originating from various provinces, without necessarily complying with any criterion of competence.

It is La Lettre du Continent that tells us that Ali Bongo has just undertaken a geopolitical rebalancing of his cabinet. He would have decided to appoint one individual from each of the nine provinces of the country as head of each department of his presidential cabinet.

Thus, the outgoing Special Advisor Flavien Enongoué was replaced by another native of the Ogooué-Ivindo, Patrick Ndong.

Jean-Yves Teale, the head of the diplomatic department, who is from Estuaire, remains at his post.

Haut-Ogooue, giving honour where honour is due, collects two departments: that of mines and hydrocarbons directed by Vincent de Paul Massassa; and the directorate of the presidential cabinet which is led by Martin Boguikouma, the one with a runny nose.

The Department of Economy and Finance returns to Maryse Matsanga Mayila of Ngounié.

The Department of Legal Affairs is headed by Paul Elie Békalé of Moyen-Ogooué.

The General Secretary of the Presidency is the domain Guy Rossatanga-Rignault, also of the Moyen Ogooué.

Clémence Mezui Me Mboulou of Woleu-Ntem is in charge of the Department of Health and Social Affairs.

Nyanga is in charge of the infrastructure, transport and housing department under the leadership of Jean-Pierre Boussougou

The department of sustainable development is entrusted to Ogooué-Maritime, in particular to Gervais Owanga-Biyé.

Ogooué-Lolo is not left behind because its native, Laurent Boukoumey, is in charge of the Education and Training department.

So goes Gabon!
