In the French daily Les Echos, of 30 August 2015, Ali Bongo complains about the devastating effect the fall of the price of a barrel of oil has on the Gabonese economy. Yet, not long ago, his minister of economy, Regis Immongault, was telling anyone who would listen that the fall in oil prices would have no effect on the finances of Gabon. When a minister of the economy is wrong to this degree, what should we conclude about his capacity to drive the country’s economy?

Dans le quotidien français Les Echos, du 30 Aout 2015, Ali Bongo se plaint de l’effet dévastateur que la chute du cours du baril de pétrole a sur l’économie gabonaise. Pourtant, il n’y a pas longtemps, son ministre de l’économie Régis Immongault, affirmait à qui voulait l’entendre, que la chute du prix du baril n’aurait aucun effet sur les finances du Gabon. Quand un ministre de l’économie se trompe à ce point, que doit-on conclure de ses compétences à conduire l’économie du pays ?
